Here’s a message I just wrote to Sen Portman from Ohio. He’s a Republican, but seems reasonable and I have a “second degree of separation” connection, so why not?

Dear Senator Portman:

My daughter and your son were classmates at Yale and spent a summer in Buenos Aires together after their sophomore year.

I’m a Democrat but I just don’t understand the GOP’s logic in taking away things like pre-existing conditions and allowing children to stay on their parents plans until age 26. You seem like a reasonable person (unlike your majority leader). How can you fathom giving a tax break to the very wealthy while taking away needed healthcare from the middle-class and poor?

PEOPLE LIKE YOU HAVE TO PUT AMERICA FIRST AND NOT SOME OUTMODED, ANTIQUATED WAY OF THINKING.

Senator Portman, don’t allow the pre-existing condition and other critical issues to be taken away.

Cordially,

Roger Chiocchi
